My aim is for every project I take on to be an award worthy portfolio piece and so I like to give it the attention and commitment as if it were my own. The perfect garden for me must be simple but incredibly well thought through. Everything must have its own place and relate to the surroundings. It must feel as though it has always been so but still catch the interest and intrigue of all users.
I obtained a Diploma in Art & Design before studying at Writtle College where I achieved a BSc (Hons) in Landscape and Garden Design. Prior to setting up Anthony Purdy Garden Design, I spent 6 years working for a high end garden design and build company. It is here that I further developed my project management skills and my ability to design not only beautiful but buildable gardens too.
I am a very practical person which fuels my curiosity to know how things work. Sometimes the best way to properly understand something is to take it to pieces and then put it back together again! I have a keen attention to detail and am only truly content when something is absolutely right. I am an incredibly hands on person and love nothing more than being asked by the client or contractor to come to site and lend a hand (if time allows)!
In my spare time I love to be outside, whether it be pottering around in my own garden or off exploring another coast line in my kayak. I have 2 classic VW Campers which are my pride and joy, one has been in my family for the past 60 years the other I have built up myself from a very rusty American shell.
